To yoga we go

Went to Inner Power Yoga before work and signed up for three months, which includes an hour of private instruction, which I need because I'm having trouble doing many of the movements. I'm hoping easing back into yoga will help with recovery; I did feel a good bit better in the legs and hips afterwards.

Walked 20 minutes at lunch. Legs are markedly less swollen today, which is about the same amount of time it happened after MMT. Recovery going well.

Tuesday 2014–06–24 13:00

Easy 6.2 around Meadowlark and up Brookside. Felt better as run progressed which is good.

Wednesday 2014–06–25 20:15

Good interval session, all on track: 20 min warmup; 400, 800, 1200, 1600 with 400 walk/jog rest; 20 min cool down. Tried 7 as 5K pace but slipped to 7:20 on last two intervals. Still happy with this workout.

Short 2 miles in Shouse. Would like to recover faster from the intervals this week so going to try running through it.

Easy Brookside up, walked some of the hills to keep the HR down. Hamstrings, calves sore.

Survived first track session. 6x800. Last was a bit of a struggle but overall felt good and had fun. Toby walk this morning.

7.6 around Meadowlark and up Clarks Crossing to Wolf Trap. Right hamstring and hip still sore from intervals Wednesday night.

Saturday 2014–06–21 10:43

3+ muddy hiking miles on Bull Run trail trying to catch up with Paul as I was late. Gave up and ran 5 at Manassas.

11 miles on Old Waterford and Hurley with Matt. Still feeling the intervals but I think Friday’s run contributed too. 1373’.

Easy walk with a half mile jog thrown in on the W&OD from Clark’s west with Toby and the family. Hamstrings and tibialis anteriors sore this time, probably because of all the mud.

Good run at Highlands Sky 40, 9:49, 15 min better than last year but best news no cramping til last two miles and was very minor.

Walked with Toby. Stomach better after a little bug showed up yesterday morning. Slept 10 hours last night. Back better too.

Good 6+ up the little feeder trail from Towlston near Wolf Trap, thru the hills of Wolf Trap Woods and Jarrett Valley, then back. Humid. Never ran this exact course before. Good hills. Toby walk after.
